Flora Márquez is an Argentine illustrator, comic artist, and storytellerwhose work blends an ongoing autobiographical comic diarywith the invented mythology of the imaginary country Morondanga Republik.Beginning in 2021 on the Hic et Nunc platform,,she has released Morondanga Republik as a collection of postage stamps that tell the story of that country.
Márquez has drawn since childhood and works as a graphic designer alongside her art practice. She entered the NFT space in August 2021, when her friend, the artist Tornado Rodríguez, asked what she knew about NFTs, and she began exploring Hic et Nunc that same night.Selling art in Argentina had been difficult, and she has said NFTs made it possible to earn money from her work for the first time.
She has described her role in Morondanga Republik as “the artist in charge of making the stamps of this country”. Each stamp adds to the invented history of the country, including its young king, Filomenus, who took the throne at six years old.In 2019 she published her first comic book, Vasto Mundo, with the Buenos Aires publisher Maten al Mensajero.Since 2020 she has also produced A Comic Diary, an autobiographical record of her reflections and dreams that she has developed toward a comic novel about her childhood and adolescence.
