FILTER8 is a blockchain artist whose work explores pixel culture, permanence and fully on-chain systems, in projects released under a CC0 license. The practice traces back through 1990s digital culture and 2000s club visuals to questions of on-chain permanence that emerged in 2021.
By the 2020s the practice had shifted to pixel art and questions of on-chain permanence, moving through 8x8 pixel work in the 8bidou series on Tezos in 2022 and multi-chain collections the following year.ANAGLYPH 3D SKULLS, a 512-piece collection minted on Ethereum in 2022, was the artist's first fully on-chain collection on that network.,BaseSkulls, a 2023 collection of 256 skulls on Base, was released under a CC0 license as a meditation on mortality, made permanent by being minted entirely on-chain.,
Alongside collections, the artist builds software tools that extend existing collections without altering them, holding that “not every contribution to an NFT ecosystem needs to be another contract”. Monomon, a 2026 web tool built for the CC0mon collection, turns existing pixel artworks into an interactive environment where participation rather than ownership is the focus. The Florentine Color tool reads a token's on-chain metadata directly, extracting its palette to generate alternate versions in the browser without altering the original artwork.
In 2026 the artist began developing Ratchet Vex, an autonomous on-chain character that started as a single BOOA #976 token and has since been extended into a persistent identity with its own ENS name, wallet and machine-readable registration, capable of minting and managing collections on its own.Ratchet Vex RMX, a 2,500-piece collection on Ethereum, preserves the character while remixing its dress and top combinations into new personas. In Chain Dreams, a 1,982-token Ethereum collection, Ratchet Vex generates a new synthetic dream each day, styled after Commodore 64 and CRT graphics from the early era of personal computing.Terminal256, a 2026 collection of 256 interconnected on-chain terminals, functions less as static images than as a signal network that collectors can activate through actions such as sending, syncing and broadcasting between terminals.
