Loucas Braconnier, known as Figure31, is a visual artist based in Montreal who works in digital photography and blockchain art.His practice explores the specificity of the blockchain as a dynamic medium and the conceptual implications of collecting such works, repurposing photographic techniques to reveal new modes of perception generated by technology.
Braconnier was born in the late 1990sand holds a bachelor's degree in Visual and Media Arts from the Université du Québec à Montréal, having previously studied photography, cinema and media.,In 2023 his project LUX was included in “Proof of X — Blockchain As A New Medium For Art”, a group exhibition in Tokyo organised through a grassroots, decentralised curatorial process. The work frames each token as a window onto a family of manipulated photographs of the sun, giving collectors a collective rather than singular claim on the images.Later that year he joined Jeffrey Scudder and Sten in “MATERIAL”, an exhibition presented by Wild.
He also created LINE, a 250-token generative collection auctioned through Fingerprints DAO and structured on Ethereum as a 25×25 grid of photographs, in which he hand-picked every token's initial position within the grid. Once the collection sold out, collectors could move their tokens' origin points around the grid, changing the field of view each token reveals.In 2026 he released Throw of Dice, a blockchain-native work on the Tezos Etherlink network in which each collector mints a dice combination that defines a connected, evolving territory within a shared system.
