FEWOCiOUS (American, b. 2003) is a digital artist, painter and sculptor whose brightly colored, collage-like work is explicitly autobiographical, drawing on a difficult childhood in Las Vegas and his gender transition.,Born Victor Langlois, he began making art at 13 and sold his first painting in 2020, before building a following on the NFT platforms SuperRare and Nifty Gateway.
He is transgender, and his early paintings and digital works trace a difficult, at times abusive childhood and his gender transition without formal art school training.,In February 2021 two collectors drove his digital painting The Sailor from an opening bid of 15 ETH to roughly $67,900 in a bidding war on SuperRare.That year he also released Fabricated Fairytales with fellow artists parrot_ism, odious and Jonathan Wolfe.,Langlois collaborated with the digital fashion studio RTFKT on an NFT sneaker collection that paired each NFT with a physical shoe and sold more than $3.1 million in seven minutes.In June 2021 Christie's New York sold Hello, i'm Victor (FEWOCiOUS) and This Is My Life, a suite of five works pairing NFTs with physical paintings and personal ephemera from his teenage years, for $2,162,500, making him the youngest artist to have a solo sale at the house.,His 2021 painting Victor and Victoria combines cubistic faces, a Disney-inflected figure and an undertone of American Gothic.
In April 2022 he released Paint Drop, an NFT collection within his generative art project FewoWorld, through Nifty Gateway, selling roughly $20 million in a 24-hour public sale reported as the third-highest in the platform's history.,For its generative music component he worked with Logan Gardner, using geometry nodes to produce randomized synth music for each piece.That October Langlois sold Nice to meet you, I'm Mr. MiSUNDERSTOOD, a life-size sculptural figure paired with an NFT, through Sotheby's for $2.8 million.,In June 2022 he redesigned the cover and logo of Billboard's Pride issue.,That September FEWOCiOUS joined Bowie on the Blockchain, a multi-artist NFT collection released with the David Bowie Estate.
