Ezra Miller (b. 1996) is a New York City-based digital artist who creates real-time generative art, interactive websites, and immersive audiovisual performances.,He taught himself to code in 2013 and writes self-generative algorithms that run indefinitely, working with camera feeds and MIDI triggers to create environments that respond in real time.
Miller received an ADC Young Guns award at age twenty for a design practice that has included collaborations with Balenciaga, Alexander Wang and Adidas.In 2019, he produced real-time visuals for the musician Objekt's live show, presenting audiovisual performances together at Berlin Atonal in Kraftwerk Berlin and at Unsound Krakow.,,He also designed a T-shirt and Nalgene water bottle for Berlin Atonal's 2020 artist-led collection MORE LIGHT.In January 2020, he and musician James Ferraro produced the four-part work Xeres Blau to launch Garage Digital, the Moscow Garage Museum of Contemporary Art's online platform for digital art. The piece immerses viewers in a world facing ecological crisis caused by pollution and technological overproduction.
In April 2021, Miller launched Solvency, a generative collection driven by dynamic WebGL simulations that generate textured feedback loops from a GAN trained on 35mm photographs. Each work also layers colors drawn from data in its own minting transaction, run through a custom smart contract built by Steve Klebanoff.Miller's early WebGL experiments were cited by fellow artist Kim Asendorf as an influence when Asendorf began working with the technology in 2017.He took part in Rhizome's panel “NFT Aesthetics”, discussing NFTs' implications for artistic practice alongside Harm van den Dorpel, Auriea Harvey and Sara Ludy, among others.He later collaborated with musician Nick León on an audiovisual performance at MUTEK Barcelona in 2024.
Miller has also produced AI-assisted video works, including a series depicting haunted apartment-hunting tours and curbside puddles reimagined as portals into another world.
