Cisneros played in Havana youth bands as a teenager and in 1987 joined Paisaje con Río, a Havana pop-rock band known for its socially charged lyrics. He studied at the Enrique José Varona Higher Pedagogical Institute in Havana, first in Primary Education and later, between 2000 and 2004, in Arts Education. In 1999 he left Cuba for a year in Mexico before returning to Havana in 2000, where he began composing for film and television, contributing music to series, soap operas and documentaries.¹ From the 2010s he ran Impulses, mentoring young musicians and composers,¹ an initiative that grew into IMPULSES.ART, a music therapy project combining live piano performance with psychological approaches to support immigrant and refugee communities.²

After entering the NFT community in 2020,¹ his work faced the sanctions-related restrictions affecting Cuban artists on some platforms: OpenSea blocked his wallet and deleted his profile because his passport was Cuban, while his work on Tezos remained untouched.³ One of his musical NFTs, Wrath of Gaia, had its cover projected on the screens of Times Square through Pixelstar. In late 2022 three artists in the community created Ernestitos, a series of about 150 hand-made portraits of him, several of which he later minted on Tezos and Solana.³

His recent albums include Glacial Paths, ten instrumental pieces for piano and synthesizer,⁴ and Atlas of Fragmented Light (2025), an eleven-part instrumental work he calls a cartography of sound.⁵ Sandbank pairs his music with video by Gino Battiston, created independently of each other, and lets collectors recombine the audio and video archive into their own versions.⁶ He also writes essays on technology and society, including The Invisible Power of Algorithms, on algorithmic bias and fairness.⁷
