Eric Rubens is a travel photographer and NFT artist known for sunset photography. He studied electrical engineering and worked building satellite systems for jets and cargo planes, then took up photography as a hobby while living in San Diego, California, before turning it into a full-time career in 2016.
He built his following by photographing sunsets along the California coast and sharing them on Instagram, growing an audience of more than 400,000 followers.His travel and lifestyle photography has been commissioned by brands including Sony, Disney, Meta, and United Airlines, and he has been a member of Sony's Alpha Imaging collective since 2016.,,In 2021 he co-founded Collective Strangers, a photography studio connecting travel-focused artists, creatives, and photographers, which later launched the PFP NFT collection Strangers HQ.He also spearheads partnerships for Explorest, a location-discovery app with more than 300,000 users.
His first NFT collection, Ocean Intersection, curates fifty 1-of-1 photographs taken over the first years of his career, most of them surfers at golden hour with skies and water rendered in vivid orange, pink, and purple. Of the series he has said: “Ever since I was young, I've been captivated by the emotions surfers have entering and leaving the water and compelled to find a way to share the energy and colors of that fleeting moment. This series captures the perfect recipe I've searched for and will continue to chase for the rest of my life.”
