Eric Davidson is a software engineer and writer who creates generative art that reworks geometric grids into complex, layered structures. His Thoughts of Meadow, a fixed edition of 150 pieces released on Art Blocks in September 2022, distorts a chess-like grid into shapes that give the illusion of three-dimensional structures.
In his statement for the piece, Davidson described the concept of “pentimento” — the presence of earlier forms or images that have been painted over — as the basis for the work's layered rendering process, where each layer builds on the one before while also covering it. He linked the piece to Meadow, the small town he is from, describing it as “the first layer of my life's pentimento”. Davidson credited Vera Molnár as an influence on his use of squares in the piece.
