encapsuled is the working name of the Italian artist Michelangelo, who writes generative code that produces invented and asemic writing systems rather than pictures. He began publishing generative art in 2021 and has released work through Art Blocks, VerticalCrypto Art, SuperRare and his own custom smart contracts.,His practice centers on meaning and simplicity, treating each piece's audience and context as part of the artwork itself.
His 2022 Art Blocks project Your Story takes the form of a generative book: a fixed edition of 102 unique works whose token ID sets each page's margins and left/right position, while the hash determines character style, page type, and the presence of notes and highlights. Because the invented language has no fixed meaning, encapsuled has said each reader perceives a different story from the same pages.Manifesto, 2023, made in collaboration with Breezy's initiative Criticize By Creating, comments on the loss of critical thinking and individuality in contemporary society and reveals six dystopic statements when scanned in augmented reality through Artivive.
In the crypto-writers space, encapsuled created Dialogue Capsules, gathering one word from each collector as a prompt for the next piece, so that the pieces together formed a single conversation between two characters. His work Chronicles was shown with VerticalCrypto Art during the ProofOfPeople festival in New York.encapsuled is an alumnus of VerticalCrypto Art's Residency Program. He has said the program helped him understand and navigate the space, giving him perspective and letting him “learn directly from many wonderful people”.
