Ella Whit, who works as E L L A, also known as BrightLightArt, is a London-based digital artist working in generative art and a custom ASCII technique. Her work is motivated by the fragility and impermanence of life, the dreams we cannot escape and the memories we distort yet allow to define us, guided by the belief that “there is no beauty without the prospect of immanent decay”.
Long and short form generative works, alongside a custom ASCII process, form the core of her practice. For GHOST IN THE MACHINE, a series of 11 fully onchain pieces, she converted original photography and AI-generated images to monochrome, rendered them into ASCII using her own P5JS algorithm, and minted the results onchain as SVG files. She used a similar process, with a custom font she calls GEOM, for CLUES, a long form generative puzzle project on Optimism whose first riddle was solved on 6 January 2024.ARCHETYPE and 1984 are each further series of 10 fully onchain works continuing her recurring themes of memory and decay.,Her Art Blocks artist page lists three long form generative projects, Prohibition, _EPHEMERAL and Marbles, the last released on the Prohibition platform.,She has exhibited in London, Paris, Milan, Rome, Estonia, New York and at the Digital Asset Museum in St Pete, Florida.
