efdot (b. 1990), whose real name is Eric Friedensohn, is a Brooklyn-based visual artist and creative director whose meditative drawing and mural practice produces colorful, flowing compositions built from moods, moments and the passage of time. His digital work depicts abstracted city views from above, seen through the eyes of a blob-like character skateboarding through urban space.
Growing up near New York City, Friedensohn explored it by skateboard, an experience he credits with shaping his later interest in the patterns and movement of cities. Between 2015 and 2020 he worked extensively with drone photography, and the aerial perspective it gave him continues to inform his Cities series of abstracted urban compositions. For its Cities // Italy chapter he traveled to Rome, Milan and Florence, producing the animated piece Sinfonia after a public fountain in the region. He has also made algorithmic work with the developer 0xdiid under the name GLiFS, a project he describes as collaborating with code while keeping the work true to his own visual style.,
His practice extends into public murals and brand collaborations, including projects with Nike, the New York Knicks and the trading card company Topps. In 2020 he redesigned a 1985 Dwight Gooden baseball card to encourage mask-wearing during the COVID-19 pandemic, and donated more than $20,000 in proceeds from a related Jackie Robinson print project to Color of Change. In 2026 he presented a solo show in one of the shipping-container galleries at NFC Summit in Lisbon, presented by OpenSea.,
