Efdot x Diid is the collaboration between the New York-based visual artist Efdot (Eric Friedensohn, b. 1990) and the generative artist Diid. Diid builds algorithmic systems that translate Efdot's hand-drawn Cities drawings into long-form generative art. The resulting Cities collection was released on Art Blocks.
Efdot's Cities works depict abstracted aerial views of urban space, seen through a skateboarding character he calls the Blob. The motif grew out of skate routes Efdot mapped through New York and drone photography he made under the handle @efdrone between 2015 and 2020. Diid's algorithmic collaboration extends this hand-drawn foundation into a long-form generative body of work. Efdot describes the aim as working to “add the element of surprise while staying true to my vision”.
