Eduardo Politzer, who works as Ed Marola, is a Brazilian pixel artist based in Rio de Janeiro whose work blends dreamlike imagery, anthropomorphic monsters and existential philosophy with a science fiction sensibility.,A sound designer for over a decade, he moved into pixel art during the pandemic and was introduced to Web3 in March 2021 by his friend and collaborator Felipe Salvador.
Marola begins most works with writing and drawing on paper before moving to the screen, drawing pixel images in Aseprite and Procreate and composing music in Ableton Live to set the mood before the visuals take shape. He draws on his dreams for source material, and names the writers Sidarta Ribeiro, Ailton Krenak, Achille Mbembe and Byung-Chul Han among his influences.
In May 2024 Marola was invited into a group exhibition at Parque Lage in Rio de Janeiro and made a pixel-art short film for the show, later titled BOLHALHA and co-directed with Felipe Salvador. The film also appeared as an immersive room at NFT Brasil 2024 and a shorter cut at Rio Innovation Week.Marola released the project's more than 30 pieces—GIFs, videos, GLBs and a mixtape—as BUBBLEBBLE on objkt.one in February 2025, with the original film included in the collection.,
Marola has also directed a commissioned video for Metallica's 72 Seasons Cinema World Premiere.
