Dutchtide is a pseudonymous digital artistwhose work blends Dutch and Japanese artistic traditions around the concept of Ma (間), the “space in between spaces”.He entered the NFT space in 2017and creates quiet, almost melancholic scenes of Japanese streets and landscapes lit by neon signs that evoke isolation within urban space.
His fusion of the two traditions grew out of his first trip to Japan, his first encounter with a non-Western country, an experience he found disorienting yet meditative as the unfamiliar language and surroundings forced his mind into silence. His compositions — often gas stations, neon-lit storefronts, and quiet roads stretching toward the horizon — pair the layered fore-, middle-, and background arrangement of Japanese art with the precision and mastery of light associated with the Dutch Golden Age. “If it's not emotional, it need not exist”, he has said of his approach to the work.
MidnightBreeze is a series of 7,000 unique artworks that has become popular as social media banners, its quiet, almost melancholic scenes of Japanese streets lit by neon signs building a dedicated following.In Bearmarket, the 174th release in 6529's The Memes collection, minted December 1, 2023 in an edition of 333, an aging convenience store stands alone against a dawn horizon, its buzzing neon signs and hand-written posters carrying messages to endure and survive.In October 2025 Dutchtide held a solo exhibition of new work at MINA Gallery's Crypto Art Museum in Amsterdam, and in 2024 he was included in the group exhibition “Art of Punk” at the Francisco Carolinum Museum in Linz, Austria, curated by Julia Staudach.,
Beyond two-dimensional work, Dutchtide has created Zen Art Garden, a three-dimensional metaverse space that combines 1960s brutalist architecture with traditional Japanese aesthetics, complete with koi ponds and arranged rocks, functioning as both gallery and sanctuary.
