dist.cs, also known as distCollective, is a multidisciplinary artist duo founded in 2019 by Bilge İçözü and Ilgın İçözü. Based between Turkey and Spain, they explore the organic elements of computational aesthetics through generative algorithms, working across music, animation, and visual art.Kaloh's Newsletter describes them as two Turkish software developers who have released long-form generative art since the early days of fx(hash).
Their first exhibition as a duo was held at Akbank Sanat in Istanbul in 2022. That year, they took part in an interactive, live-minting exhibition of a long-form generative collection at Art Basel Miami Beach, presented with the Tezos Foundation and fx(hash). In 2023, they participated in Proof of People's live-minting event in New York, and their work has since been shown in Turkey, the United States, the United Kingdom, Spain, France, and Italy.
Their Solitude and Illusion City collections on fx(hash) were praised for their movement detail and for maintaining a dark, low-lit, subtly toned palette.In December 2023, Lumina, a fixed edition of 81 works, was released through Art Blocks Presents. The piece layers an organic texture generated with p5.js and an fBm shader beneath a custom fragment shader that introduces glitching distortions, evoking cosmic phenomena such as electromagnetic waves, magnetic reconnection, and gravitational pull.
