Diego Lazzarin (Italian, b. 1979) is a painter, illustrator and animator based in Milan, Italy.,His imagery draws on childhood memories of comics, cartoons, movies and paintings. It combines these influences with monstrous, grotesque figures that he considers an expression of vitality rather than despair.He also creates monster sculptures, wall masks and graphic novels.,
Lazzarin graduated in Scenography from the Brera Art Academy in Milan in 2005. He began directing and producing music videos and animated short films at the age of twenty-five, while also continuing to paint.In 2007 he performed an audiovisual set with Postal m@rket at the Cimatics Festival in Brussels, providing video and laptop animation for its world premiere.,In 2017 he spent three months in Vietnam as part of an artistic residency in Cu Chi.
His graphic novel Aminoacid Boy and the Chaos Order follows an alien creature sent to Earth to study human desire and self-awareness. Its printing was funded through a crowdfunding campaign in 2015. He also published the comic book Invisible War and the silkscreen book N-Euro C-Rack with the publishing collective Le Dernier Cri.In 2019 he held a solo exhibition of silkscreen prints, masks and paintings titled “Mauvais Oeil 34” at the Friche la Belle de Mai in Marseille.
