Des Lucréce is a Norwegian-born Vietnamese visual artist based in the United States. His practice centers on fantastical monsters drawn in intricate linework against bold color, in a style that echoes street art and calligraphy, citing Jean-Michel Basquiat and the printmaker Maki Haku as influences. He has coined the term “No Home Center” for his experience of living between cultures, never fully belonging to one place.
His Monsters series, 52 hand-drawn one-of-one characters released on objkt.com, began as cathartic portraits of the bigotry his family and community faced during the pandemic, imagined as grotesque yet familiar monsters that grew into a wider bestiary representing otherness. Holders of Monsters receive periodic Spawns airdrops, a companion collection of on-chain pieces distributed to them over time.
