dennis chilas is a German designer and generative artist based in Offenbach, Germany, who creates generative visual systems and algorithms that produce vibrant, abstract graphics, images and animations. His practice draws on years of work as an interaction and graphic designer, and he teaches at the University of Art and Design in Offenbach (HfG Offenbach).
In 2022 and 2023 he made CTRL, a series built on a strict grid system in which fragments expand, evolve or fade according to a set of rules.In 2023 he began Latent Grids, his first series of generative AI work: a p5.js script generates a grid poster that is fed into a stable diffusion pipeline, released in an edition of 200 on the Tezos blockchain through EmProps OpenMarket.The same year he started Tales From Above, in which patterns from cellular automata algorithms are reconstructed by AI into photorealistic aerial and satellite views, and Spaces, which sculpts imaginary three-dimensional forms out of flat two-dimensional grids.,In 2024 he released ADMB, a generative animation with evolving abstract compositions, which was shown at Onchain Art Day in Berlin in partnership with koda.,
In 2025 he was one of more than 60 artists featured in Season One of the objkt Art Pack, a tradable NFT reward program that also included established names such as Zancan and AL Crego.He also uses Rodeo Club, an onchain social network by Foundation, to post work in progress and special editions that mint as ERC-1155 tokens on Base.
