Demon Eg⚉ is a multidisciplinary artist whose work grew out of nightmares triggered by horror films he watched as a child, which he began drawing at around age nine or ten as a way of confronting and normalizing the monsters in them. He works across drawing, GIFs, video, and AI tools, treating his own custom-built software as an extension of his art rather than a separate medium.
His influences range from horror movies and mythology to psychology and philosophy. He studied graphic design at undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate level at a fine arts university and worked for eight years as a research assistant in university graphics and illustration departments. His graduate research centered on supernatural beings, though he did not complete the qualifying thesis. His process begins with choosing a dark emotion to explore, after which he builds individual visual elements without a fixed plan and arranges them into a story, often in the form of multi-part GIFs or animated collages he thinks of as short films.
