Daniel Koeth is a photographer who composites five to ten photographs into a single image, drawing on an archive of skies, buildings, and textures he has amassed for years. He often uses himself as the subject, staging photographs so recurring characters, their faces obscured by masks, an emoji, or other objects, populate blue-sky settings that recur across his work.
Koeth graduated in 2017 with a degree in narrative filmmaking. He then spent a decade doing commercial video, photography, and design work, primarily for the cycling industry, before leaving it to focus on his art practice full time. His photographs follow a principle he attributes to Hitchcock: keep the most interesting part of a scene out of the frame, so a viewer wonders what happened just before or after it. He also layers film grain and bloom onto his images, an effect borrowed from analog photography that he says helps convince viewers they are looking at something real rather than a digital composite.
The clear sky that recurs across his photographs gave its name to Blue Skies Forever™, both a series and the tagline Koeth uses for his practice. Bag Boy Forever centers on a recurring character in a red jumpsuit with a paper bag over his head, which Koeth has said grew from the impulse to be noticed and invisible at the same time. He has extended the character into a series of five bronze sculptures, each paired with a digital artwork.The first sculpture was acquired by a collector in February 2026, and Koeth described it as “this sculpture memorializes the weight of wearing a mask, and moment it is shed”.Botanical Guardians, a ten-item series, was released on Ethereum in July 2023.Dear Diary, a photography series of 1/1s inspired by entries in his diary, was released on Ethereum through a Manifold contract in August 2022.He has also released individual 1/1 photographs through SuperRare and Foundation.,,,He is an Arizona photographer.
