Dana Fanego is an Argentine visual and sound artist based in Córdoba, working with analog image projection, sound, and archival material, particularly Super 8 film and slide projection.Her practice treats abstraction as a mode of perception and uses analog media as a way of holding memory and material presence, often channeling walks through the landscapes around her home into drawing, painting, photography, video, and sound recordings.,
She holds a degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes, awarded in 2017 with the Prilidiano Pueyrredón Creation Scholarship. She has since pursued a postgraduate specialization in Contemporary Artistic Production at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba.In her Unstable Landscapes paintings, made mostly in pastel and acrylic on paper and canvas, forms appear to escape, fall, transform, and dissolve, a response to abstract painters she admires.
Since 2022 she has exhibited and distributed her work on the blockchain, and in 2023 she received the Arts Ambassadorship grant from the Solana Foundation.That year she was also a resident artist at the Vertical Crypto Art Residency in the United Kingdom, part of its sixth cohort.,In 2024 she was selected for the Community Artist Exhibition at NFT.NYC, and her work was included in Fakewhale's group exhibition “ART MARKET: The State of Digital Humanism” on Foundation that September.,
Since 2023 she has performed live audiovisual sets combining sound art and analog projection as part of the duo Fanego–Guzmán, with shows at Archivo Veintidós in Santiago de Chile, Radio Tsonami in Valparaíso, and Festicalp Itinerante and Volante Discos in Córdoba. Her Super 8 film Tiempo Cercano was presented at Festicalp in 2024. She is co-director of Brújula Invisible, an experimental art space in La Falda, Córdoba, dedicated to sound art, moving image, and interdisciplinary practice. In 2024 a film installation of hers received the Acquisition Prize from the Secretaría de Cultura and the Museo Metropolitano de Arte Urbano at Córdoba's MAC contemporary art fair.
