CyberSea (b. 1989) is a generative artist and software architect who turns real-time Bitcoin blockchain data into evolving visual and mechanical artworks.,,He is known in real life as Michal Szafarski.,He entered web3 during the COVID-19 pandemic and discovered generative art after years as a miniature painter and, later, a game programmer. His work draws on fantasy, science fiction and technology, often in vibrant, sometimes trippy colour.
In Deus Ex Machina, he created a generative artwork built to function as a simulated Stirling engine, its pistons and gears driven by real-time Bitcoin block data such as timestamps and block height. Rendered in a brutalist, steampunk style, the piece was described by Vivid Gallery, the Bitcoin Ordinals platform that released it, as the first Ordinals artwork to use Bitcoin block data as its living canvas. CyberSea said his goal was “to create a fully functional machine as an art form, with a touch of dystopian mystery around it”.One edition from the 400-piece collection sold for 0.0128 BTC.
Building on that project, Enigma (2025) turns Bitcoin transactions into bikes navigating a glowing maze, using Dijkstra's algorithm to trace their paths while block attributes such as fees and mining difficulty shape the scene. He described the work as an attempt “to create art about Bitcoin, art that tells the story of our beloved mother chain”.Vivid Gallery released Enigma in an edition of 1,000, opening first to holders of Deus Ex Machina in March 2025 before a public mint in April 2025, priced at 0.0015 BTC.,CyberSea has said he believes generative art will increasingly draw on blockchain itself as a medium, adding that “Artists will truly use blockchain as a canvas and data as pigment in their artwork”.
He has also produced the comic-inspired series BANG!. CyberSea has served as one of the original art curators for gm dao.His work was included in a Bitcoin Ordinals exhibition curated by Vivid Gallery in Lisbon during the Non Fungible Conference, alongside artists including Medusa and Shaderism.
