CRIS WAR (Italian, b. 1996), the name under which Cristian Guerra works, is a new media artist and composer working across sound, image and computational systems. His audiovisual works explore how digital systems reshape perception and identity. Music is where his practice began, and he develops sound and image together as parts of the same process.
Guerra began releasing electronic music under his own name in 2011, in a club-oriented context. He came to feel that this format no longer fit his direction, and his work moved toward image and sound constructed in relation to each other. In 2022 he began signing his works as CRIS WAR and entered the NFT space through a collaboration with a visual artist. He has described his collaboration with Fedez on Temet Nosce as the first project in which this approach extended to the visual, a work conceived more as a digital artwork than as a traditional music video.
