Cory Haber is a New York-based generative artist who translates code-generated drawings into large-scale physical paintings made with plotters and 3D-printed paintbrushes he builds himself.,He studied art in college before switching his major to marketing and business, then became a software developer and discovered that code could generate images.Since graduating from university in New York in 2014, his work has consistently explored nature through computational design.
He began plotting his code-based drawings with a commercial pen plotter, then built his own machine to work at a larger scale, using 3D-printed nibs to control the flow of acrylic paint across canvases built from tens of thousands of individual strokes. He began minting NFTs around 2021, first on the Tezos marketplace Hic et Nunc, then on Ethereum with a collection of twelve 1-of-1 works called 12 Views of a Gerbera Daisy on OpenSea.
In October 2022 he released SOL, 365 generative artworks each representing the actual sunrise of a single day of the year in New York, calculated from astronomical data and recorded on the blockchain. The series was inspired by Andy Warhol's Sunset print series and sold out in 35 minutes.,With Atmospheres, a collector-curated collection of 100 editions on the platform Verse, he turned to “the beauty and grandeur of vast skies filled with mesmerizing clouds and celestial bodies”.
In 2023 he made his long-form generative art debut on Art Blocks with Singularity, created for “Evolving Pixels”, a show curated by the artist Emily Xie around the theme of growth. The piece traces lines outward from a central point in the form of a flower, a metaphor he has described as a way to depict growth and humanity's connection to nature.Later that year he began a year-long series of 100 generative oil paintings made with his custom-built plotter, released through Bright Moments.In a review of Foundation's sales data, he was named the only generative artist among the platform's top 10 sellers by volume.
