Thomas Collet, known as Chepertom, is a French artist who describes his practice as “making videos and breaking them with code”.He works across drawing, engraving, installation, and video, using glitch to corrupt digital images and reveal compression's hidden mechanics.,Trained in drawing at École de la Cambre in Brussels, where he is based,,he holds a master's degree from the school and has taught digital art there.,
His route into glitch art began at art school, when curiosity about video compression algorithms led him to a subculture of artists deliberately corrupting files.,His father, a physicist specializing in signal processing, helped him understand how the compression tools he used actually worked. Central to his work is an interest in entropy, corruption, and loss, which he uses to show that digital media, like anything else, is not permanent.He cites the films of Andrei Tarkovsky and Akira Kurosawa, architectural forms, abstract painting, and Art Brut among his influences, alongside the online community Glitch Artists Collective.
He made a music video for Ariana Grande's song Imagine.,He also accompanied musician barcode's performance at the Berlin Atonal festival in December 2021.On Tezos, he released the RAD series, applying his glitch process to digital compositions.His two-work Fakewhale Solo Series release Cathédrales Modernes launched in May 2024, reimagining aerial views of the commercial harbor of Antwerp captured on Google Earth and layering them with glitch textures inspired by Claude Monet and the Impressionists' treatment of light. The two works, Cathédrale_Nocturne.ROW and Cathédrales_Zénith.ROW, also draw on the documentary photography of the duo known as The Bechers and the large-scale industrial images of Andreas Gursky.In 2026, he introduced RUG, a project weaving glitch and generative art into physical jacquard tapestries, developed over more than a year with the agency Fu2ion. The works are woven from algorithmically generated images on jacquard looms, linking the loom's punch-card programming to contemporary digital art. They exist both as NFTs and as unique woven textile objects.His work has been exhibited at Structura in Sofia, Kanal Centre Pompidou in Brussels, Larsen Warner in Stockholm, and Superchief Gallery in Los Angeles.,
