cha is a documentary photographer and generative artist who treats AI models and their training data as subject matter for portraiture. They are also in the midst of a name-changing practice spanning more than twenty years, modeled on the tradition of Zen master painters.
cha leads critiques at Loop Art Critique, an art residency housed in a spatial internet environment. Rather than keeping a daily sketching practice, cha maintains a daily improvisational music practice instead. cha has also been developing a generative portrait format designed to make the character of specific generative AI models visible, describing it as “a portrait of the GAI and of ourselves”.
