Cassi Moghan is a British photographer based in Athens, Greece, whose photographs explore the textures, light and fleeting moments of ordinary urban environments.She spent most of her adult life working in the arts, first as a theatre performer and director, before becoming a producer and editor of audiobooks.Her images search out “the discarded, the forgotten, and the everyday” in found objects and abandoned buildings.
In 2018 she held an exhibition documenting the Roma community in Athens, made after she was invited to accompany a group of human rights workers there and photograph the conditions people faced.In 2023 she contributed the photograph Red Poppies to TezQuakeAid, an initiative raising funds for people affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria. She waived her royalties on the piece and directed all primary and secondary sale proceeds to the fund's wallet.She was also invited as one of the first artists to mint on the NFT marketplace bluescreen, releasing Memories and Ghosts, a collection of photographs that trigger personal memories.
Her series Abandoned Beauty documents abandoned buildings in a fast-changing city, while On the Rocks grew out of a period of grief.In Natural Forces, black-and-white photographs of precarious, solitary trees address life and death in nature.In 2025 she began My Boring Life, photographing the mundane details of the home she had lived in for ten years, working only in black and white under natural light with minimal editing.She has also contributed to Oh Snap, a collaborative collection made with eight other photographers worldwide using CampSnap lo-fi digital cameras, with profits shared evenly among the group.She is a member of the artist collective Invisible Chicks.Her photography has also been catalogued by the digital art project The Line, under its Lens Based category.
