Carson Kompon is a programmer, musician, and generative artist who makes games and code-based art.Since 2023 he has taken part in Genuary, an annual daily generative-art challenge, producing a new coded sketch each day in response to prompts such as tessellation, sine waves, and reinterpretations of artists including Vera Molnár, Anni Albers, and Hilma af Klint.,
He was the lead programmer on Turnip Boy Robs a Bank, building the game's GameMaker framework, CarsonEngine, and serving as its sole developer for the first year and a half of development.He was lead programmer and musician on Super Raft Boat Classic, then provided additional programming and music for its multiplayer sequel, Super Raft Boat Together, collaborating with musician Jake Currier on its main theme.On Crunky's Fun Rager, an arcade endless runner released for Steam, he worked solo, creating the game's art, music, sound effects, and programming himself.He also works as a programmer on S&box, a spiritual successor to Garry's Mod built on the Source 2 engine, that lets players create, publish, and share their own games.
Much of his visual art is coded directly in PICO-8, including short generative pieces such as Disrupted River (2022), which render looping abstract animations from a few lines of code.
