Camille Roux is a French generative artist and creative coder based in the South of France.,He worked as a back-end developer and then ran his own business for a decade before turning to creative coding at the end of September 2021, drawn to it by the same appetite for improvisation he had found in generative music.
His first fxhash project, SEA, went live in late 2021 as the platform's 85th release.By the end of that year MURMURATIONS had been named an 'Icon' collection by fxhash's curation program, Tender,and Roux went on to publish fifteen fxhash projects in total, built around a trademark red, yellow, white and green palette that he applied to simple scenes such as flowers, cities and rivers in RIVER.,
For BRIDGE (2022), fxhash's largest collaborative project, Roux wrote a base code framework specifying a background, foreground and orthogonal tiles, then invited two dozen other artists, including lunarean, Makio64 and Claus O. Wilke, to riff on it.,The project followed a jazz structure, with Roux's code serving as the head that each collaborator then improvised on, yielding 520 editions that combine all 26 contributors' styles into a single work. Right Click Save featured BRIDGE alongside works by William Mapan and Landlines Art as an example of decentralized authorship in generative art.
ARTERIA also earned Tender's 'Icon' distinction,and in July 2022 he released Folradura on 256art, his first Ethereum drop, using local modifiers across a grid of points to fuse mathematics, physics, noise and randomness into organic patterns.In March 2023 he became Bright Moments' Artist in Residence, releasing Intricada, which was shown for a month across the gallery's locations in New York, London, Mexico City and Tokyo.With Matthieu Segret he also formed the collective Immutable Collective, under which the pair spent a year developing The Source, a 300-piece collection built to reproduce the look of watercolor painting in code, released on gm.studio in July 2023, followed by The Destination.,Roux later began hosting a monthly generative art segment on the podcast NFT Morning, interviewing fellow artists about their creative processes and tools.,
