C4RC0, the pseudonym of Károly Bori, is a programmer and artist based in Piliscsaba, Hungary,whose geometric compositions rework the visual language of early twentieth-century abstraction through code.He reworked paintings by László Moholy-Nagy, Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg into three-dimensional constructivist compositions in his series Constructions.His practice also extends into product design, with a series of constructivist eyewear titled Sunglasses.
Bori studied architecture at YBL Miklós College and drawing at MOME. He also studied painting under Csaba Filp. He also runs an information technology company.In his series Binary Words, he renders short phrases as 8x8-pixel compositions built from binary code, including iloveyou, which he made for his wife on their tenth wedding anniversary.He released the generative series BINARY WORDS on the platform fxhash, along with the series GENERATIVE GLASSES and No need for noise, the latter shown in the exhibition “Proof of X” in Tokyo.
In his series Constructions, he reworks paintings by László Moholy-Nagy, Piet Mondrian and Theo van Doesburg into three-dimensional compositions based on his own subjective interpretation of their work.He continued this approach in the generative series THE CONSTRUCTIONS, released on the platform fxhash.His series Digitization reworks earlier paintings into digital compositions, including Atonement (The Victim), based on an 1881 painting by Mihály Zichy.
