bzor is the alias of K.C. Austin, a creative technologist whose real-time 3D graphics, virtual and augmented reality, and generative shader work sit at the intersection of art and technology.He works from the Blue Ridge Mountains, where he also produces modular synth audio alongside his visual practice.
Austin's career in computer graphics predates his NFT work: under the name Bzor Systems he modeled and rendered a mechanical figure for Au.Bound, a short video made for the design festival OFFF in collaboration with the director gmunk.He fell in love with augmented reality while prototyping for Magic Leap, and later worked on immersive AR experiences following the release of the Meta Quest 3 and Apple Vision Pro headsets.
In 2023 bzor collaborated with the Montreal-based artist Presstube, who has explored the synthesis of drawing, animation, and code since 1997, on Cuneiform, a generative series of 128 works.The two artists conceived of language as “an extrusion of information squirting through the universal aperture of lived experience”, imagining intelligence as something alive that grows from us rather than something invented by us. They drew on sources ranging from Beethoven's manuscripts and Sumerian clay tablets to Cy Twombly's marks, Wolfram's cellular automata, ocellated lizard skin, and octopus chromatophores.The series minted on Ethereum on October 17, 2023, and was shown in “Truth”, a Feral File group exhibition curated by Adam Berninger.
