Brandon James Scott is a Canadian illustrator and picture-book artist based in Burlington, Ontario. He has illustrated more than fifteen children's picture books for publishers including HarperCollins, Penguin Random House, and Astra Publishing's Hippo Park imprint, and created the Emmy Award–nominated preschool television series Justin Time over a twenty-year career in animation.
Published by HarperCollins in July 2026, The Skeleton and the Cat was Scott's author-illustrator debut and became a National Indie Bestseller. The book is the first in a series and grew out of Dead Cat, a personal project of daily paintings imagining “the whimsical (after)life and times of death and a cat”. His other illustrated books include A Bear, a Bee, and a Honey Tree and its follow-up A Bear, a Fish, and a Fishy Wish, both written by Daniel Bernstrom for Hippo Park, and I Was Born a Baby and I Live in a Tree Trunk for HarperCollins.
