Boldtron is the shared artistic name of brothers Xavier and Daniel Cardona, Barcelona-born artists working across 3D, CGI, VR and AI.,Xavier spent more than twenty years working as an illustrator and art director across Europe and Asia before returning to Barcelona to launch his own studio, PZZZA.
Boldtron's approach is organic and research-driven, even though its production is purely digital. The duo has said it seeks constant creative and technological evolution by revisiting and reinventing its own work.
In May 2024 the duo released The Vault of Wonders: Chapter 1 - The Abyssal Unseen, an AI-video collection that fuses the Renaissance cabinet of curiosities with imagery of deep-sea creatures.,The looping videos draw on the history of animation, from zoetropes to stroboscopic motion, to give the digital creatures a life-like rhythm. Music and sound design for the collection came from the Spanish DJ and producer MYGAL.
At NFC Summit 2026, the Lisbon gallery Eterno presented Boldtron's series Quantum Terrains, eight works of speculative landscapes that alternate between static images and short 4K video loops. The pieces assemble mountains, clouds and water as though nature had become programmable matter, exploring territories shaped by fabrication and technological imagination rather than documenting real places.In 2025 Boldtron spoke at OFFF Barcelona.,That year the duo also took part in “Akari”, an exhibition in Mexico City that reinterpreted Japanese aesthetics through light and artificial intelligence.
