Bluretina is a digital artist who distills complex ideas and emotions into cartoon-style characters, often catlike figures with big smiles and bright colors. Her work explores connection and self-image, often drawing on her own life. She takes her name, meaning blur retina, from the nearsightedness she developed spending her childhood sitting close to the television.
Born in Istanbul, she has said she was largely on her own as a child before her brother was born. She spent her days drawing, painting and inventing her own games and stories.She became part of La Créme De La Créme, a Tezos art collective and DAO founded in 2022, after members sought to bring in more women artists alongside Mental Noise and Sümeyra.
Within the collective, her piece PINCHY PINCHY shows a woman pulling her own face in opposite directions, described as “a pinch of love + a pinch of hate + a pinch of regret + a pinch of faith. Just put inside your head and shake!” She also made The Butterfly Skullz as a collaboration with O.G. SPIRATOM.She contributed a self-portrait to “People of Tezos”, a project pairing digital self-portraits by Tezos-based artists with short written biographies.
