Bita Emami, known as Bitaem, is a self-taught artist who began with photography before turning to collage. She has described collage as “a puzzle that puts aside the pieces of our thoughts and creates a picture of the unconscious”. Her work explores society, culture, and the feelings that people try to hide.
Emami has said she could not study art formally because of her circumstances, but describes art as “like breathing for me” and “my safe place”. She has presented work at NFT.NYC, the NFC Summit in Lisbon, the New York exhibition “Mind Matters”, and group exhibitions in Tokyo, Paris, Beijing, and Bali.
In 2023, she donated her artwork Eunoia as a raffle prize for a fundraiser built around Amir H. Fallah's neon artwork CHANT, created in response to Iran's Woman, Life, Freedom protest movement.In September 2024, her work appeared in “ART MARKET: The State of Digital Humanism”, a group show presented by Fakewhale on the platform Foundation.She won Artcrush Gallery's Spotlight of the Month contest with the collage The Healing, described as capturing the process of piecing oneself back together after life's disruptions.
