Billy Rennekamp is an artist and developer who works across software, sculpture, and moving image, drawing on games, play, and cognitive science. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, he is based in Berlin, Germany.He is also a co-founder of the platform Folia and the game Clovers Network.,
In 2018 he received a grant from the Ethereum Community Fund to continue work on Clovers Network, a game that rewards the creation of scarce art.He later co-founded Folia, a space for exhibiting and collecting NFTs, and served as Cosmos Hub product lead at the Interchain Foundation.
His own early crypto art was shown in “Proof of Work”, an exhibition Simon Denny organized at the Schinkel Pavillon in Berlin in 2018 using a decentralized curation strategy, alongside early work by Harm van den Dorpel and Terra0.For Simon Denny's 2021 Sotheby's auction piece Backdated NFT/Ethereum Stamp, Rennekamp helped him locate a defunct 2018 NFT project so Denny could swap in a new image on an NFT that had originally been minted in 2018, backdating the work.
