Berk Özdemir is a digital artist based in Istanbulwhose work spans generative art, net art, and NFT projects built with machine-learning systems. In 2021 he fed the 10,000 CryptoPunks images into a generative adversarial network to create Bastard GAN Punks, a PFP series of corrupted, glitched mashups captioned with AI-generated lyrics.
The series drew attention after Roham Gharegozlou, the CEO of Dapper Labs, retweeted it, and it sold out shortly afterward. “If big people in the space start pushing a project it usually goes very well”, Özdemir said of the dynamic.
He has also released NewONTOLOGY, a collection of 1,190 synthetic entities on Ethereum described as an ArtScience research project carried out jointly by Özdemir and an artificial intelligence system.,The pieces are generated through unconstrained algorithmic evolution and presented as restricted-access, adults-only content. In Autopoietic Generative Ontological Recursion, he co-wrote an interactive philosophical book with an AI system prompted to reason as a philosopher, working through questions of cosmology and the origin of existence. For Form Art 2026, a set of 110 pieces using HTML form elements as artistic material, he frames the work as following Alexei Shulgin's 1997 use of form elements as art material. He also produces music under the alias Princess Camel, a project described as genre-fluid with eight official releases.
