BE A STEREOTYPE, the alias of Judd Buchanan, is a 3D artist and filmmaker based in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. His digital scenes explore humanity's relationship with technology and the natural world. The habits of NFT collectors, whom he calls “degens”, appear in his work with irony and humor that invites reflection on technology's role in society.
Buchanan studied film production at the Université de Montréal before turning to 3D rendering, which let him make videos and short films without the budget or crew a live-action production requires. In 2021 his work appeared in “IT IS ALL AROUND US”, a virtual NFT exhibition sponsored and curated by the agency Artgence. In October 2022 he released Organized Mess, a piece showing 18 monitors each displaying one of his earlier NFTs minted on Hic et Nunc, in an edition of 50 on Teia.art. In April 2023 his work appeared in the group release “GIF CLASH” on Objkt, catalogued by the platform Fakewhale.
