Bassil Taleb is a Syrian-Turkish artist who creates digital generative art through code, combining geometric systems with carefully choreographed motion. Trained as an architect, he draws on that background's experience with patterns and systems, producing work that is visually complex yet approachable.He left Syria and rebuilt his life and architecture career first in Lebanon and then in Turkey.
His interest in generative design took shape during his later years of architecture study, when he began learning to code for school projects.He makes his generative animations with Python in Blender.,In 2021, as NFTs drew wider attention after the pandemic, he minted his first piece, Object 3 / View 1.That year Taleb also made Life Algorithmic, a set of algorithmic pieces dedicated to those forced to leave home in search of a better life only to be lost on the journey.
In Several Aspects from A Single Vantage, 2022, a tessellated cube rotates to reveal different facets of identity without ever fully exposing itself, drawing on M.C. Escher and Piranesi.,The following year, Echoes of Self grew out of his residency with VerticalCrypto Art, pairing shifting blue-toned light and shadow with movement inspired by audio-frequency visualizations to explore the inner voice.In 2024 Taleb released Mahsus, a long-form generative piece made with p5.js in an edition of 200 exploring digital intimacy, its title echoing an Arabic word for felt while carrying its own Turkish meaning of something specifically intended.Taleb has cited A. L. Crego among the artists he admires in the space for pushing the boundaries of a medium without expectation of recognition.
