Barabeke is an Italian digital artist and novelist who works across fractal photomontage, glitch art, and AI-assisted image-making. He has made digital art since 2007 and began releasing his work as NFTs in 2019, reworking paintings by Leonardo da Vinci in a series he calls Transfiguration.
In 2023 he began working with AI-assisted tools in Mona Lisa Reloaded, a series of portraits that reinterpret Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Another work, A CryptoPunk from 1844 (Gustave Courbet), reworks a self-portrait by Gustave Courbet into pixel art, repeating a single image thousands of times with variations and glitches layered across its surface. The Giant Kahuna is a 6.7-gigapixel digital image. Its first 150 sections, out of 1,000, have been individually numbered and minted as Visions of the Giant Kahuna.
