aurèce vettier (b. 1990) is an art project founded in 2019 by Paul Mouginot, its name generated by an algorithm.,Working between AI-generated imagery and hand crafts such as painting, bronze casting and Aubusson tapestry, vettier treats the machine not as an author but as a tool for introspection.,Poetry is the backbone of the practice, whose first work was a book of poetry co-written with a machine.
Since 2018 vettier has trained generative adversarial networks (GANs) on archives of old herbaria to invent impossible plant forms, a body of work gathered as Potential Herbariums and realised in oil paintings, bronze sculptures and digital works.,In late 2021 vettier began combining CLIP and GAN models trained on a personal photo archive, from childhood pictures to recent smartphone images, to translate dreams into pictures.Circular Ruins (2022) was the first exhibition built on this method, followed by le travail des rêves at Bright Moments Paris in 2023.,After his younger sister died, vettier began the project the crossing of the forest, later shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art macLYON in Lyon.
In 2022 vettier collaborated with the design studio Gilles et Boissier on a piece for “D3SIGN CAPSULE”, an ELLE Déco collaboration exhibited in Paris and sold on SuperRare. In 2023 vettier and the artist Vera Molnár produced AD.VM.AV.IA, an AI-assisted installation based on the hidden polyhedron in Albrecht Dürer's engraving Melencholia, curated by Vincent Baby and shown at Le Transfo, Paris, for Nuit Blanche.vettier has since developed AI-generated botanical and dream imagery into bronze sculptures cast using the bois perdu lost-wood technique, gem-set jewelry and Aubusson tapestries.,This work has been shown at the Museum of Contemporary Art macLYON in Lyon, the Jeu de Paume in Paris, and, in 2026, at “du savoir-rêve”, a solo exhibition at ArtVerse Paris.,vettier's work was named a finalist for the Lumen Prize in 2024 and 2025.Poetry also underpins much of the practice, with vettier exhibiting in the curated poetry gallery theVERSEverse and in group shows such as “POÈME OBJKT” and “POÈME SBJKT” in Paris.,
