Atelier Dresemann is the joint working name of the married artist couple Birgit and Uwe Dresemann, independent artists based in Greven, Germany, who paint together and sign their canvases DR² to mark each work as a shared collaboration. An intensive discussion of each painting's concept precedes the work and continues through its execution on canvas, with both artists contributing to its content and technique.
Both grew up in Münster in the 1970s, and Birgit Dresemann went on to study sociology, psychology and philosophy before turning to early aesthetic education for children. Uwe Dresemann trained as a Schauwerbegestalter, a window and display designer, and worked across several craft trades before likewise dedicating himself to making and teaching art. Together they also bring art to people who, for various reasons, live in contexts away from cultural life. Digital works from the atelier have been listed on the platforms KnownOrigin and Foundation.
