ARC, also known online as ARC4G, is the artist name of the Saudi visual artist and creative director Abdullah, who makes minimalistic, looping digital animations. He has said that art became an escape from SMA, a rare neuromuscular disorder that causes progressive loss of motor neurons and muscle wasting, a space where “physical limitations don't matter”.
He founded awl.studio, which he describes as focused on empowering artists with disabilities to reach their full artistic potential. He has described his style as “minimalistic clean loops”, developed through a process of sketching and experimenting until an idea looks visually right, drawing on the influence of life and technology and how people engage with them.
