Apocalypse Art (b. 1971) paints figurative portraits and mosaics under the pseudonym Apocalypse, transforming the physical works into short animated loops through Apocalypse Studio, founded in 1998. The practice draws on phenomenology and Joseph Beuys' concept of social sculpture, treating art as a means of cultural and spiritual renewal.,
The artist has made art since 1992.Formal training followed at the Maine College of Art, where an MFA was earned in 2003 under William Pope.L. Earlier study included phenomenology with Dennis Klocek at the Rudolf Steiner College and an apprenticeship with the Slovenian Ambassador of Culture, Miha Pogačnik.In 2007 the artist co-founded Reos Partners, a social-change consultancy, with Adam Kahane and others. The pandemic closed that consulting practice in 2020, after which the artist returned to painting full-time.Selling began the following year, when the artist joined the cryptoart scene.
An early body of work, The Meeings, is a cycle of 49 portraits moving from an archetypal rage to a closing vision of the distant future. It was followed by The InSights, an open-ended series of skull studies that began on OpenSea and continued across three Manifold contracts for a second volume.The artist also produced The InFlux, a project mapping a spectrum of human consciousness through 333 handmade portrait works across three chapters.,Chapter One, The Origins, debuted with Carbon Cop through ClickCreate in a drop curated by Patrick Amadon.Chapter Two, The Ordeal, followed with 156 unique works released on the platform Shape in October 2024.,Chapter Three, The Oversoul, is a 144-part mosaic of animated portraits built from a single physical painting and inspired by Ralph Waldo Emerson's 1841 essay The Over-Soul.,,A tour of the physical panels began in Marfa, Texas, in October 2025.
