Anya Asano is an anonymous digital avatar artist based in Oakland, California.,They fuse tools such as Blender, After Effects, AI algorithms and glitch techniques into abstract and figurative works described as synthetic color schematics, blending virtual and organic forms into a kaleidoscope of color, texture, pixels and polygons.,
Asano holds a degree in commercial art and worked for more than two decades as an art director and digital artist, exhibiting in only two or three gallery shows before discovering NFTs.,After coming across a news story about NFTs at Christmas 2020, they immersed themself fully in the medium.Their first AI tool was PIFUHD, an early image-to-3D-model generator that let them generate figurative models from unconventional human collages, a technique that shaped several of their digital collectibles beginning in 2021.Even as they became active in NFT community spaces, they have maintained a level of personal anonymity.
Their work has been shown at Ars Electronica in New York and Bright Moments Gallery in Venice, California, both in 2021, and at NFT Art Berlin in 2022.In 2023 they took part in theVERSEverse's Poesía de Protesta, a bilingual digital poetry collection pairing Hispanic women poets with visual artists, shown at its New York edition.,Asano was also featured, alongside Flora Márquez and Shaga O'Nhan, in a Right Click Save interview on artists surfaced by ClubNFT's Pathfinder tool, which highlights NFT artists who tend to go unnoticed.Beyond digital art, they have produced commercial work for clients including Condé Nast, Wired and Lex Records.
