Anna Malina is an experimental artist who works with self-portraiture and appropriated imagery, making .gif animations, short films, and music videos,,that combine analog and digital techniques to create hybrid work.Her work draws on the collective visual history of cinema, moving image, and the internet,with explicit references to early modernist and midcentury experimental cinema.She is based in Germany.
Malina's subjects include self-portraits, the body, and still lifes of flowers,rendered through techniques that keep the materiality of physical media present even inside her digital work.She joined the platform Hic et Nunc on Tezos in March 2021,and was one of the artists the writer Poppel recognized as already active there when they joined the platform the following month.In a 2023 profile of the Tezos curator Cabline published by Right Click Save, her 2021 video work this is the Haus was included among Cabline's favorite pieces.Her short film OilMoonNight, which she has not minted as an NFT, began with scenes from other films cut into a new narrative and data moshed with editing software. She then printed stills with an inkjet printer, letting the cartridges run empty to distort the colors, before tearing, wetting, and cutting the prints and scanning each frame back into the finished film. Her SuperRare piece Cold Spring appeared in the “Co-Sign” exhibition organized by Transient Labs.
In 2024, the Museum of the Moving Image nominated Malina as one of ten artists up for public vote to appear on its Schlosser Media Wall, part of a yearlong partnership between the museum and Tezos. The museum's feature displayed her works Kollaps, 2023, no rest for the wicked, 2023, and T◻chMyErr◻rs .x. Str◻keMyKeys, 2022.In 2025, she was one of more than 60 artists commissioned for objkt's Art Pack Season One, a tradable NFT booster-pack reward system.
