Anna Condo, born in Armenia and raised in France, worked for decades as a filmmaker and photographer before turning to AI image-making in 2022.,Her AI works fuse her interests in color, character, and emotion into surreal images she describes as a theater of the psyche, refined through iterative prompting, collage, and retouching.
Condo trained in art history and archaeology in Paris before pursuing acting, and from 1989 she divided her time between New York and Paris, writing and directing four short films and three feature films and publishing a tribute book to the poet Allen Ginsberg.In the late 1990s the photographer Nan Goldin made a portrait of Condo in her living room.In 2013 she turned to photography, choosing flowers as a recurring subject she photographed daily.
Her AI-era work appeared in the 2023 group exhibition “Nature in the Digital Age” in New York and, in 2025, in “Factory Reality: Post Realism in the 2020s”, the second exhibition at SuperRare's physical gallery space Offline in New York.,Also in 2025, her series Sunday School was shown in the group exhibition “Synthetic Realities: Authenticity in the Age of AI Imagery” at Galerie Met, Berlin. The work assembles a figure from digital fragments dressed in a blue velvet dress with a stiff white collar, its overwritten face set against an empty schoolyard of playground equipment and brick walls.In her series COLOR CODE, figures with faces hidden by flowers, hands, or turned away recur as ambiguous, archetypal presences she calls “soul portraits”.On the platform Foundation she has released more than 1,400 works across 37 collections, and through Art Blocks Studio she released the project DATASPHERE.,
