Anna Carreras (b. 1979) is a Barcelona-born creative coder and digital artist who works with generative algorithms and interactive installations to explore complex systems and the balance between order and chaos. She holds two master's degrees, in engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and in audiovisual technologies from the Universitat Pompeu Fabra, and teaches creative coding at design schools in Barcelona.
Her interactive installations have been shown at venues including the CosmoCaixa science museum in Barcelona, Expo Zaragoza and the Sónar Innovation Challenge, and she won a Cannes Golden Lion for Interactive Projects in 2010 and a Google DevArt Award in 2014. In March 2021 her generative work Arrels appeared in “Social Codes”, a show on Feral File curated by Casey Reas. It was later used to illustrate an interview with Casey Reas and Lauren Lee McCarthy, whose Processing project has inspired artists to code for more than twenty years. That September her collection Trossets launched on Art Blocks Curated, and in December her piece Ganxillo was shown in “For Your Eyes Only”, a Feral File exhibition curated by Domenico Quaranta. That year she also collaborated with the artist Mónica Rikić on La màquina que juga sola (The machine that plays alone).
