Anika Meier is a Berlin-based writer and curator working across blockchain, digital and AI art, and co-founder of the gallery Expanded.Art.,She has curated exhibitions for König Galerie that expanded artists' work into virtual reality built by Manuel Rossner, and co-curated the posthumous NFT tribute to Herbert W. Franke.,,,She also creates her own text-based works examining identity, authorship and value in the post-digital age.
In 2020 she curated “SURPRISINGLY THIS RATHER WORKS” with Johann König, Manuel Rossner's first solo show at König Galerie, which transformed the gallery's former St. Agnes church into a virtual gaming environment inspired by 1990s game shows and AI research labs.The following year she and König curated “The Artist Is Online”, which extended painters including Maja Djordjevic, Sarah Slappey and Banz & Bowinkel into a Decentraland replica of the gallery built by Rossner, selling the resulting NFTs on OpenSea.Before his death in 2022, the artist and scientist Herbert W. Franke worked with Meier and Rodolphe Ködderitzsch to launch Math Art, a 100-piece NFT collection drawn from his 1980s series of the same name.Meier and Franke's wife, Susanne Päch, then organized a posthumous tribute in which more than 60 artists released nearly 5,000 NFTs across Ethereum and Tezos, reaching $461,000 in combined sales volume.
For her Berlin gallery Expanded.Art she curated “Techno Terrain: Nature in the Age of the Metaverse” in 2023, bringing sixteen artists together with objkt.one to explore nature and technology, pairing early computer artists such as Hans Dehlinger with newer generative work.With the artist Margaret Murphy she co-founded The Second-Guess, a Berlin- and Los Angeles-based curatorial collective exploring the relationship between humans and technology, and curated its exhibition “Body Anxiety in the Age of AI” at HEK Basel in 2025 alongside Murphy and Leah Schrager.,She curated “We Emotional Cyborgs: On Avatars and AI Agents” for objkt at Basel's Digital Art Mile that year, and has run objkt's interview column Artists Corner, in which she talks to artists about AI, memory and technology, as well as the objkt labs Residency program.,,
In 2022 Meier collaborated with the duo Operator on Unsigned, a collection of 100 signatures from women and non-binary artists sold as NFTs to confront the gender pay gap in art.,Her own text-based work Tale as Old as Time (2024) reflects on girlhood and what she has called the second wave of selfie feminism in the age of AI.
