Angela Nikolau (Russian, b. 1993) describes herself as a “neo-artist working with extreme performance, visual art and projects with global reach”.,Her practice involves climbing tall buildings as a performance-like gesture, work she has called “my art form”.,She sells the resulting images and videos as NFTs, including on the SuperRare platform.
Nikolau studied at the Russian State Specialized Academy of Arts but left before completing her degree to pursue photography from rooftops. In July 2026 she and her collaborator Ivan Beerkus climbed the spire of the Empire State Building in New York. The ascent recalled Philippe Petit's 1974 tightrope walk between the towers of the World Trade Center, another performer who considers himself an artist. Their earlier climbs were the subject of the documentary Skywalkers: A Love Story, distributed by Netflix. In the documentary, Ivan Beerkus described their practice by saying they are “just artists filming the city from up high”.
On the NFT platform Foundation, Nikolau's sales placed her among the platform's ten best-selling artists over a one-year period tracked in 2023, one of five who sold under a full name rather than an alias.
